Kumarakom the largest back water lake front in Kerala faces several challenges in safety and sustainability, exposed to a large water front and challenges associated with the availability of fresh water and stable power supply. The leading resort engaged Datamatrix for enhancing the Safety & Sustainability of the Resort.

Solution

Datamatrix has crafted a robust monitoring system, after a safety and sustainability audit with the intention of making it one of the safest and most sustainable destination.

The work involves remote monitoring and analytics, quarterly safety and sustainability audits and a continuous improvement program with measurable and verifiable matrices, using the Datamatrix Platforms.

Outcome

Several observations were made and focused initiatives where undertaken for energy and water optimization, as well as safety and sustainability.

The energy cost was reduced by 11% and the water consumption was reduced by 8% due to these initiatives

Our endeavor with the whole hearted support from the management is to transform the resort as one of the Safest & Most Sustainable Resorts in Kumarakom, Kerala.

Kerala Tourism’s “Responsible Tourism” model at Kumarakom got the biggest international recognition when it was conferred the top United Nations Award, UNWTO Ulysses Award, for Innovation in Public Policy and Governance.
